Local Family Foundation Surpasses One Million in Charitable Giving
The Jandy Ammons Foundation Awards $314,308 for 2017
Raleigh, NC – January 10, 2018 – Eleven North Carolina-based nonprofits will see their capital projects come to life in 2018 thanks to The Jandy Ammons Foundation, Inc. The local family foundation is giving $314,038 to help fund capital projects in the areas of art, wildlife conservation, education and missions. In the Foundation’s five years of existence, it has given grant awards totaling $1,079,769.
“Charitable organizations generate valuable opportunities for local communities,” says Jan Ammons, The Jandy Ammons Foundation co-founder and President. “Our goal is to seek out those with a strong volunteer base who are planning unique projects to bolster the health and wellness of their community. They simply need the capital to propel them forward, and that’s where we can contribute.” Ammons says the relationships with the local organizations the Foundation supports have been inspiring and encouraging. “This is a particularly exciting year. Not only have we surpassed $1 million in giving, but when we look at this year’s list of supported projects, it reflects our mission more closely than any years past.”

The 2017 grant recipients are:
• A Blessing, Inc.
• Contemporary Art Foundation
• Friends of Hemlock Bluffs of Cary
• The Gregg Tree Project – Visual Arts Association
• The Family Violence Prevention Center, dba Interact
• Marbles Kids Museum
• Museum of Life and Science
• NC State Engineering Foundation of Raleigh
• The Alice Aycock Poe Center for Health Education
• Triangle Land Conservancy of Wake County
• Wake Forest Historical Museum of Wake Forest

“We are excited about the momentum that these nonprofits bring to the table,” says co-founder Andy Ammons. “Our goal is and has always been to support community-minded projects that need capital support to get out of planning phase and into implementation.”
“The organizers and volunteers behind these projects will touch so many diverse parts of the community, from higher education to crisis relief” Jan says. “Many of this year’s projects are multifaceted and collaborative. This year’s group stands out for the way they are integrating their work into their respective communities: many are expanding their own missions by expanding their reach to new demographics, and many are focused on educating their broader community about what they do. We look forward to seeing their plans come to fruition.”
“Our goal is to find projects that provide positive life experiences in an array of ways,” says Gina Teague, the Foundation’s executive director, “This is our way of reaching as many people as possible.”

Letters of Inquiry for 2018 projects are being accepted through May 7, 2018. For more information on the grant proposal process, please visit: www.TheJandyAmmonsFoundation.org
