The Jandy Ammons Foundation Awards $234,720 To 11 North Carolina Organizations

2014 Grant Totals Increase $147,720 From 2013

Raleigh, NC – January 20, 2015 – Eleven North Carolina-based nonprofits will have a greater impact in 2015 thanks to The Jandy Ammons Foundation, Inc. The local family foundation is giving $234,720 to help the nonprofits fund projects that will collectively support active lifestyles, youth development and exploration.

Last year the Foundation gave five organizations $87,000. The 2014 grant totals are an increase of 180 percent in gifts to more than double the organizations.

“Charitable organizations create valuable and needed opportunities for North Carolina communities,” says Jan Ammons, The Jandy Ammons Foundation co-founder and president. “Our goal is to seek out those with a strong volunteer base who are planning unique projects that contribute to the health and wellness of their communities. They simply need the capital to propel them forward.” Jan, an avid community supporter and volunteer, has given her time to the public school system, parks and trails in her municipality, and church missions. She and her husband, Andy Ammons, have witnessed the power of inventive solutions that blend learning with the arts, the environment and the mission field – it was the guiding factor for the creation of The Jandy Ammons Foundation.

This is the second round of grants given by the Jandy Ammons Foundation, which was launched in 2012 by Jan and Andy Ammons. The 11 grant recipients went through a thorough application and review process before being selected.

“Through the Foundation, we are able to seek out and fund organizations’ projects that need capital support to get out of the planning phase and into implementation,” says Andy. “We are excited about the ideas that these nonprofits bring to the table.”

“Our goal is to find projects that span the state and provide a variety of opportunities for positive life experiences,” says Gina Teague, the Foundation’s Executive Director, “This is our way of reaching as many people as possible.”

Letters of Inquiry for 2015 projects are being accepted through May 4, 2015. For more information on the grant proposal process, please visit: www.TheJandyAmmonsFoundation.org
